To me drawing is the foundation for all sorts of problem solving and creativity. I tend to sketch ideas on paper before submitting them to words on the computer. The spring of 2013 I became more interested in drawing in its own right. Particularly charcoal drawings on toned paper. I started learning using the type of comparative measurement method where you compare proportions with something like a pen. I now use a proportional divider to the same effect, that is to establish some key points on which to base free-hand drawing.
I prefer to only draw life or from photos I have taken myself to ensure that I own all rights to the image. An example of that is this drawing of my daughter. The drawing of the old man is based on a photo I found online and so the right to the original photo is not mine. And lastly a drawing of my son from when he was a baby.
