I want to create by moving my body, by feeling as well as seeing, and by challenging the human aversion to discomfort. I am therefore drawn to metal as my primary medium. My process is in many ways related to the concepts I explore: The ideals and flaws of us, our bodies, and our social roles. I draw on my background as a social scientist and a long-standing interest in history and mythology.

Although I have actively been learning art and craft since 2003 it was only in 2016 I took the step to leave my career as a researcher to do art full time. Currently complementing my earlier informal training with a BFA in metal art at HDK-Steneby.

I’m active on Instagram, username: dstrandow (Daniel Strandow Art), and on Youtube as Daniel Strandow.

  1. Hi there,

I can’t seem to locate an email contact so am hoping this means of communicating works. I’ve recently read with great interest the piece you coauthored in Transactions in GIS and the earlier Strauss Center working paper on territorial control. I was wondering whether the directed dyad event dataset that you use (based on the UCDP-GED, with information on attacks and post-event control) is publicly available, and if so where it might be accessed.

Thank you in advance for your time.
